ChildrenChildren are not just the church's future, but invaluable in the present, setting examples of faith and hope and enthusiasm for all believers in their baptismal life.
Christ the King is committed to making church a meaningful, welcoming, and special place for children. This includes a Conversation with the Children immediately before the Sermon at every Divine Service, an age-appropriate Sunday School offering every Sunday during the school year, and many special activities such as a Christmas Pageant, a Children's Processional or Prelude at certain services, and a Vacation Bible School offering every Summer, in partnership with other local Lutheran churches. We have also sent children and families to participate in Camp Pineshore, an LCMS Bible Camp in Westminster, MA. |
Youth Youth are learning who God has made them to be and what they believe about him.
Central to this process in the life of the church is Confirmation Class - two years (usually 7th and 8th grade) of studying the Bible and the Catechism with Pastor Morris during the school year. This enables the youth to meaningfully participate in the communion life of the church, and to become members, professing the faith that they received in their baptism to be their own faith. Youth are invited to participate in worship as acolytes, readers, greeters, and ushers. Christ the King also periodically offers youth retreats in partnership with the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod New England District. When appropriate, youth are invited to participate in local, national, and even overseas mission efforts. |
AdultsWe are never too old to continue growing in faith and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And we never stop needing the support of our community of faith.
Adult Bible Study is offered year-round at Christ the King, usually led by the Pastor, ranging from book studies of the Old and New Testament, topical studies (issues like sexual ethics and how faith and science interact have been recent highlights) and theological studies of the Lutheran Confessions. Our Congregational Ministry organizes several social events throughout the year, allowing for relationship-building and fellowship. Christ the King also has an active Seniors Ministry: the Older, Wiser Lutherans (OWLS). This group meets for lunch monthly to support one another and share their journey of faith together. |
