Fill the Ark to support of Heifer International (going on now) Grab a jar and decorate it any way you like, then fill it with loose change to help struggling families. This four-week program is a fun and meaningful way to learn about sustainable solutions to help people in poverty; visit Fill the Ark Program | Heifer International for more information about Heifer International as well as an online giving calendar. Bring your filled jars (if you’d like to write a check, make it out to Christ the King and add Fill the Ark in the memo line) to church on April 3. Pastor will bless the jars as we give thanks for sharing our blessings with others in need. Faith Food Pantry collection (ongoing) Did you notice the grocery cart in the narthex? Next time you’re at the market, please consider picking up an extra item or two and adding them to the grocery cart. All donations benefit Faith Food Pantry and people in need in Newtown. For information on items most in need, visit Newtown Food Pantry. Before donating, please check to be sure items have not expired! Coat/hat/mitten drive to benefit Jericho Partnership (starting March 20; ongoing through end of October) Will you be doing any spring cleaning? Do you have any gently used coats that no longer fit? Visit Jericho Partnership for more information on this organization. Join the Sunday School children in decorating cookies and posters on April 3. Delicious cookies and colorful posters will be delivered to Newtown Police and schools to celebrate the joy of Easter. According to the EPA, 85% of clothing in the U.S. is thrown away. This means that only about 15% of clothing that could potentially be re-used is collected using existing methods. Our on site clothing donation shed, courtesy of St. Pauly Textile is there for everyone to donate any used clothing you no longer need. Tax slips and plastic bags (for bagging up your donation) are conveniently located at the box. The church receives a small donation for every pound of clothing gathered.
