Warm the winter!
Through October, we're collecting gently used and new coats, mittens, and hats to bless at-risk youth served by the Jericho Partnership in Danbury. Items in good clean condition can be left in the clothing drop box at the church parking lot. Thank you!
Shop & Share
Help fill the grocery cart in the church foyer! Donated items go to FAITH Food Pantry, a non-profit serving Newtown residents in need. Next time you shop, please consider getting an item or two - a list of most-needed items can be found on their website. (Please check expiration dates before donating.)
Fall Fair & Tag Sale!
Our Fall Fair returns November 5th. Please bring in donations for our tag sale! (Items may be placed in the rear of the fellowship hall or neatly left outside under the eaves and beside the door). We have many ways to help, from day-of-the event volunteer opportunities to donating bake sale items, recruiting vendors for tables, and asking local businesses to donate to our silent auction.
Coffee and... Cards
Over coffee & refreshments, we'll compose letters and create cards to encourage U.S. Troops in active service. Please pray for them year-round, and join us in this activity, remembering them during the holidays.
It's almost time to decorate cookies and posters donated to brighten hearts at Newtown Police Department, Board of Education, and Newtown schools. Fun for all ages & ability levels, all are welcome. Children are invited to enter their best creation in the decorating contest. Cookies and decoration supplies will be needed.
Operation Christmas Child
We will be 'kicking off' on October 16th. There will be plenty of boxes and pamphlets available, so you will be able to assemble yours with ease. For details online, check this link: Operation Christmas Child. These shoeboxes are sent to Samaritan's Purse for delivery to children in need around the world. Thank you for supporting this annual mission project; it's family-friendly and such a tangible way to demonstrate God’s love.
For details on any of these projects, consult the bulletin, church calendar, or contact the church office. Thank you!

Christ through us
It's our joy to share Christ's love, serving our town, our region, & our world. Through compassion projects and teaching, we help meet needs and spread the Good News of the Gospel.
A variety of projects are chosen so that all ages can get involved. Thank you for prayerfully sharing your time, talent, resources, and compassion to support Missions together. For questions or to confirm details and deadlines, contact the church office or calendar.
We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers, remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Thessalonians 1:2-3
Prayer is central in our worship services and in our lives. It's a mission of love to pray regularly for our church, our families and loved ones, our communities, and people served by our Missions activities. All members at Christ the King are invited to contact the church office to sign up for weekly prayer emails and share together the needs and praises in our lives.
Each month we feature a nonprofit organization chosen by the church elders to receive a donation. A portion of our yearly church budget is earmarked then divided evenly among the recipient groups. We encourage our members to get to know these groups and consider adding to this financial contribution or by direct support. For the schedule, with links to featured groups, please visit our Benevolent Giving page.
but in your hearts
honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you.
1 Peter 3:15
Christian Education at Christ the King engages adults and children with the Gospel during Adult Bible Study, Confirmation, and Children's Sunday School classes. We invite the Holy Spirit to guide spiritual growth, increasing our understanding of God's Love and Grace. Together and as individuals, we study Scripture, using Lutheran catechisms as a roadmap, in order to strengthen our faith and to be prepared to joyfully share the Good News of Christ with others.
