Disaster Relief Missions Project

‘For I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink,
I was a stranger and you took Me in, I was
naked and you clothed Me,
I was sick and you looked after Me, I was in prison and you visited Me.’ ~ Jesus

Update Presentation on November 10, 2024

Initial Announcement, October 2024
As you might know from recent news reports, on September 26-27th, Hurricane Helene swept through the southeast leaving a path of catastrophic devastation. Much of the most serious damage and loss of life has occurred in Western North Carolina in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Cities like Asheville were virtually cut off, and many lesser-known towns wiped out or are accessible only by helicopter or foot.

Rob Balancia (CTK Elder) and his wife Kirsten (CTK Missions Chair) have a personal connection with the devastated communities and are organizing a mission trip to this badly stricken area. On or about Monday October 14th, Kirsten and Rob will be departing for North Carolina with their SUV and trailer full of crucial supplies and food for some of the people of the area that have no water or power, many have lost everything! They will first work with Samaritan’s Purse which is already working on many projects in the area, including property and house reconstruction and cleaning. They also serve meals to those in need. After a three-day effort with Samaritan’s Purse, Kirsten and Rob will go to the Hendersonville area where they have already coordinated with two local area churches and the Blue Ridge Humane Society.

You can donate directly via their designated Samaritan’s Purse fundraiser page or via our Church's PayPal. If using the PayPal link, please earmark "For Helene Relief Mission" in the Notes field. QR codes for both options are provided below for your convenience.

You can also donate supplies. We are looking for the following items:
Non-perishable food (for canned goods, select pop-top/easy open items or include a manual can opener), Diapers, Wipes, Formula, Small hand sanitizers, Soap, Shampoo, Toothpaste and toothbrushes, Contractor bags, AA and AAA Batteries (place in the assigned box at the church).

Questions? Contact the Church office or Rob Balancia. Please share this information with your network of friends, relatives, and colleagues. Thank you.
