 LUTHERAN HOME FAIR-- JUNE 6TH

An old-fashioned Summertime Fair will be held at the Lutheran Home in Southbury on Saturday, June 6th (rain or shine) from to   Included in the fair will be strawberry shortcake, a cookie walk, a raffle and other special activities.  The Home is located on North Main Street in Southbury. Stop on by!! 

SUMMER SERVICE HOUR BEGINS  JULY 4TH

Once again, we will have our summer Sunday service hour at for the months of July and August, including the Sunday of Labor Day weekend.  Our church picnic this year will be an outdoor brunch following the service on SEPTEMBER 6TH.  As is our custom, we will plan to work on the Labor Day Parade float at that time.

SUMMER EVENING VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

SAVE THE DATES!! The annual Summer Evening Vacation Bible School will be held Sunday, July 11th through Thursday, July 15th. ADD MUSIC TO OUR WORSHIP THIS SUMMER!!

During the summertime, soloists, duets and instrumentalists are invited to add their music to church services on Sunday mornings.  Please speak with our parish musician, Elaine Perry, if you can help out by supplying music some summer Sunday.

PARISH NOTES 

   We wish God's blessings to the members of the Confirmation Class of 2010. Members include: Mark Badwal, Garrison Buzzanca, Siena Cicarelli, Tanner Ernest, Otto Kerler, Suzanne Kerler, Megan Kunnemann, Morgan Reiss, Ashley Roswell, Brenton Scott, Jennifer Sweat and Eric Winkelstern.

   Our congratulations to all of the High School 2009 graduates from the congregation.  High School graduates include Robert Braden, Samantha Dinnan, Amanda Ernest, Allison Modzelewski, Scarlett O’Sullivan, Katie Pessin, Zachary Rahmlow, Timo Roehrs, Emily Schriever, Kristen Stoller, Amanda Sweat, James Toikka and Brian Williams.

   Special good wishes go to our college graduates Karli Beitel, Jonathan Canary, Matti Toikka, Alicia Tolson and Lauren Wiliams.

SUNDAY SCHOOL STAFF THANKED

As the end of the Sunday School year quickly approaches we would like to thank the Sunday School Staff for their dedication to the sharing of God’s word with both children and adults. This years staff includes Elizabeth Rojas and Dawn Roman-Weide -Nursery/Kindergarten, Sarah Ernest-First Grade, Deb Redford-Badwal and Reggie Minor-Second Grade, Christy Saffi and Allison Rogers-Third and Fourth Grades, Rebecca Cicarelli - Fifth and Sixth Grade, Lynn Morrison and Anita Harris- Jr. Youth, Bob Rogers- Sr. Youth, Allison Rogers-Craft Co-ordinator, Pastor Wismar-Adult Bible Classes.  Our thanks also go to Bob Rogers our Christian Education Chairman; Anita Harris and Lynn Morrison for their opening services, Bob Rogers for his work with our Youth Groups.  We ask God’s continued blessing upon our Christian Education Program. The last day of Sunday School will be June 13th.

FALL FAIR: OCTOBER 23RD

 Christ the King’s annual Fall Fair will be held on Saturday, October 23rd from 9:a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Gently used items for the Tag Sale can be left in the fellowship hall entryway against the wall.  Please watch for dates and times when workers will be getting together in the upcoming bulletins and try to lend a hand.  Your help would be greatly appreciated!! Clothing, curtains, curtain rods and computers cannot be sold at the fair. If you have large items please contact Christy Saffi (203-775-3202) to be sure that we can sell them.

50th ANNIVERSARY CTK COOKBOOK

We've all enjoyed the wonderful soups, salads, appetizers, casseroles and desserts at our various functions over the years and now we all have an opportunity to share these recipes with the congregation and their extended families and friends.  Here are guidelines and deadlines to keep in mind for this project: RECIPES:  Type or print your recipes on an 8.5 x 11 paper, one recipe per page.  Be sure to proofread your recipe for accuracy and be specific with measurements.  Include number of servings, if applicable, and your name at the end of the recipe.  We'll need hundreds of recipes, so submit as many as you'd like. CTK 50TH ANNIVERSARY COMMITTEE

Our thanks go out to those who volunteered to join the Anniversary Committee, whose task will be to plan and stage several celebratory events next year, as we commemorate the 50th anniversary of the founding of our parish.  Committee members are Rosemarie and George Gollenberg, Lynn and Bob Morrison, Bud and Cullette Williams, Dorene Murdoch, Diane Vertucci, and Mary Cardella.  We wish them good luck and creative thoughts!

 EAGLES NEWS

The EAGLES group will be going to the John Jay Homestead in Bedford NY on June 6th following the service that day. Transportation will be provided and everyone should bring a bag lunch. The event will last about 3 hours. For further information please call Lynn Morrison at 203-426-7749. A sign-up sheet is located on the center hallway bulletin board.
